Three new ISPM irradiation treatments published
In May 2022, the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) published three new phystosanitary treatments using irradiation in the form of annexes to ISPM 28:
- PT 40: Irradiation treatment for Tortricidae on fruits
ISPM 28: Annex 40 (2022)
This treatment describes the irradiation of fruits at 250 Gy minimum absorbed dose to prevent the emergence of viable adults of Tortricidae at the stated efficacy - PT 42: Irradiation treatment for Zeugocadus
ISPM 28: Annex 42 (2022)
This treatment describes the irradiation of fruits and vegetables at 72 Gy or 85 Gy minimum absorbed dose to prevent the emergence of adults of Zeugodacus tau1 at the stated efficacy. - PT 43: Irradiation treatment for Sternochetus frigidus
ISPM 28 Annex 43 (2022)
This treatment describes the irradiation of fruits and vegetables at at 165 Gy minimum absorbed dose to prevent oviposition of any female Sternochetus frigidus that may emerge from fruit irradiated at the stated efficacy.
